The “15 STRONG” program is representative of Bryson’s football number. During his senior football season, the team, community, and school went above and beyond for him. Because Bryson was on the sidelines his senior year, they did some pretty incredible things to make sure he knew he was loved. One if his closest friends painted a 15 yard line on the field where he, and others on the team would pray before each game. The last home game, they surprised Bryson with “BRYSON” and “STRONG” in each of the end zones, as well as a fund raiser and t-shirts they wore with his name and number on it.
The team awarded a senior athlete each game with Bryson’s #15 jersey to wear so that Bryson could still be a part of each game. It was incredible. When Bryson would hear his last name called during a play, he would turn and smile up at us because it was so emotional. This tradition continued for the next two years. These football players gave up part of their last football season in part to honor Bryson, remembering him, and bringing awareness to Childhood Cancer.
With the 15 STRONG program, we get students and athletes to speak to youth groups about what it takes to get through tough times, As athletes, both on the field and off. As students and teenagers, at school, with friends and at home. What it means to persevere, being kind in every situation, having courage when they are afraid, being strong both mentally and emotionally, and having the best possible attitude at all times. We currently work, with the Maple Mountain Youth Football league, the MMYFL Cheerleaders and provide incentives to go above and beyond to exhibit and embody these attributes in their own lives, at practice and in games, and in their community.
